Nonetheless I love my beach unconditionally!! Crystal Beach, Texas is on the Gulf Of Mexico and was devastated by Hurricane Ike in 2008. It has been almost 3 years and I have found it hard to go there without crying. Just this week my daughter and I went for the day and had a blast. I did not go to the "old cabin site" so thats probably why I did'nt cry...............
It holds countless memories of Summers past with family, friends, star-gazing, sand dollar searches, Whaleback, Galveston Island and the Ferry, sand crab chasing in Daddy's old truck, riding on the tailgate dragging a stick, Hawaiian chicken, the full moon reflected on the water, mornings sipping coffee on the porch, the sound of ceiling fans and the winds from the beach, Fireworks on July 4th, swinging in the hammock downstairs, walking along the beach, Daddy yelling at people driving by too fast, watching and laughing at people getting stuck in the sand at the end of the road.
Now is the time to make new memories. We will be renting a beach cabin next weekend and my rather large family with all gather together for the weekend. New babies will have their feet in the sand for the first time as is tradition, a weenie roast on the beach, plus hours and hours swimming and building sand castles...............I am really looking forward to it!!

ReplyDeleteHow random, I clicked your profile picture on another blog and linked to your blog and this is the first post I see. I grew up going to Crystal Beach every weekend in the summer and it holds very fond memories for me. Our old family cabin was leveled too but it was no longer in the family at the time the hurricane hit. It looks so different now with all the new cabins!
